Mangaluru, Apr 7: The second JMFC court here issued directions to the city police commissioner here on Thursday April 6, to shift Ahmed Qureshi from Katipalla Kaikamba, who was arrested relating to a murder attempt case and then admitted into Wenlock Hospital here, to be shifted to KMC Hospital here for advanced treatment. It may be recalled that Popular Front of India activists had tried to lay siege to police commissioner's office here on Tuesday alleging that Qureshi had been tortured by the police.
The arrested accused has been suffering from kidney problem. He was being looked after in the intensive care unit of Wenlock Hospital here. Counsel for Qureshi, Dinesh Ulepady, had moved an application in the court on April 3, stating that his client, Qureshi, was in critical state in Wenlock Hospital and that the hospital was not in a position to provide effective treatment. He also stated that police intervention in Wenlock Hospital has been causing security issues and therefore had requested the court to permit to provide treatment to the accused in a private hospital.
Considering the seriousness of the case, judge of the second JMFC court here directed to shift Ahmed Qureshi to private hospital. The court also wanted to be provided with details of proper security to the accused and the treatments given to him in the hospital. It also endorsed copies of this order to the police commissioner, investigating officer, and head of Wenlock Hospital.
Based on this order, Qureshi stands shifted to KMC Hospital here for treatment.
