Mangaluru, Apr 6: "For the past two days Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have been witnessing goondaism. We have heard about such goondaism in Bihar. The state government needs to be blamed for these incidents in the twin districts," said BJP district president Sanjeeva Matandoor in a press meet at BJP office in city on Thursday April 6.
"Since June 2015, nearly 40 cases have been registered relating to communal incidents. Communal organisations such as KFD and PFI indulge in such activities with government's support.
"PFI members' protest and pelting stones at the police commissioner's office resulted in lathi charge and injuries to the police. ASI Aithappa from Urwa police station was also attacked at Ladyhill. We strongly condemn such incidents. These communal organisations are disturbing peace and harmony in society. As a result, people are afraid to roam freely. Police are here to protect the people. But the police themselves were attacked for no reason," Matandur said.
"Even though several demands have been made to ban such communal organisations, the state government has not shown any concern to ban them. We urge for the immediate ban on communal organisations in order to bring peace in the society,” he said.
"We also condemn the attack on Udupi deputy commissioner on April 3. The sand mafia is twin districts, has reached danger level and Congress leaders of both the districts need to be blamed for illegal sand mining. Sand is transported illegally to Bengaluru with such ease and district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai is encouraging sand mafia. The incident indicates that law and order situation has completely deteriorated.
"The domination of sand mafia and communal organisations must be stopped immediately or else we will definitely protest in future days. " Matandur concluded.
Vedavyas Kamath, Yogesh Bhat, Kishore and Sudarshan were present in the press meet.
