Bengaluru, Apr 6: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing illegal mining in the state on Wednesday April 5, registered cases against former chief ministers N Dharam Singh and H D Kumaraswamy.
SIT also registered cases against 11 serving and retired officers in addition to the cases against former chief ministers.
All these cases were registered as per the direction of the Supreme Court. The apex court had asked the SIT on March 29 to register cases and it had also directed the SIT to complete the probe within 3 months.
Dharam Singh and Kumaraswamy are accused of allowing mining in reserved forest areas in Ballari district.
M Basappa Reddy, Gangaram Baderiya, V Umesh, I Perumal, K S Manjunath, D S Ashwath, Jija Hari Singh, Mahendra Jain, K Srinivas, M Ramappa and Shankarlingaiah are the officials against whom the cases stand registered.
