Mangaluru: Urwa police ASI assaulted by unknown, in ICU

Mangaluru, Apr 5: Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) from Urwa police station Aithappa was assaulted by unknown persons on the morning of Wednesday, April 5. He has been admitted to hospital and is under observation in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

The ASI was on his bike when the assault took place at Lady Hill at 3.30 am. Identity of culprits is yet to be established.

Police commissioner Chandra Shekar and other senior police officials visited the place of assault as well as hospital.

Later reports said that the culprits came on a bike and used iron rod to assault SI.

    Our police are very efficient it they are allowed to do so. They might be a few black sheep in the department, but by and large, the police force is very good. The problem arises when the politicians interfere and instruct the police to act the way the politicians want. If we can find a way to keep the police away from the politicians, I am sure this will be a better place to live. The police should not be directed by the politicians. They should be given a free hand. A free hand to arrest all the corrupt politicians. And we will find so many of them, even in Dakshina Kannada.

    It is indeed good to see that the the department of Law-order-and crime are with the people of Mangalore irrespective of cast, creed or status . Whether it is a senior officer or just a constable the Police Force is present to protect the rights of any one and every one.

    In the photographs it can e seen that Mr. Chandrashekar, Mr. Sanjiv Patil, Mr. Shantaraju and Mr. Uday Nayak are seen duly supporting A GOOD CAUSE. They are there irrespective of the status of a policemen. Naturally the people in Mangalore find security and protection in the hand of the police.

    Situation getting worse not just in Mangalore but across the country. Socially we have become regressive. After 70 years of Independence we are still talking about beef, clothing, language, meetings etc. We call ourselves the largest democracy, but we do not have the freedom to eat what we want, we do not have the freedom to wear what we want, A boy and a girl cannot be seen together in the streets even of their own free will. Married couples, siblings are stopped and questioned on the streets by the so called moral police. Any person who expresses views contrary to the ruling dispensation is branded anti national. Movies, books, seminars etc which express a different view are banned and their creators attacked. People transporting cattle legally with valid documents are lynched just on false information and rumors....................I don't know where we are heading. Our external enemies must be celebrating.
