Panaji: Scarlette's Death: Sub-inspector Suspended

Rediff

Panaji, Mar 13: Goa police on Wednesday suspended police sub-inspector Nerlon Albuquerque for alleged laxity in investigating the case of British teenager Scarlette Eden Keeling, who was found dead on Goa's popular Anjuna beach.

Albuquerque, attached to Anjuna police station, had been accused of mishandling the case.

The PSI had received the first blow on March 11 when senior officials had withdrawn all his powers.

Prior to that, the case was shifted from him to a senior police inspector Braz Menezes.

This is the second time Albuquerque is facing suspension. In 2005, he came under scanner for allegedly trying to show a murder as suicide.

Senior police officials said there have been enough allegations against Albuquerque.

Our sympathies go to Scarlete's mother and her brothers and sisters, whatever the reasons leading to her untimely and tragic death, the sorrow of losing a loved one cannot be ignored. The culprits must face justice this cruel act deserves.

This subinspector of police is habitual in declaring murders as suicide. Not only he has to suspended also he has to be declared mentally unfit. He always sees the cases otherway.
