Hubballi, Apr 4: A young man from Hubballi tweeted to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj seeking her assistance to bring his Pakistani wife to India.
Daniel Henry Devanur (22) is the person who sought minister’s help. He had married Silvia Noreen (21), his relative, at United Pentecostal Church at Youhana Colony in Lahore on June 25 last year.
After returning to India, Daniel failed to bring his wife to India as no gazetted officer in Pakistan was willing to sign on the sponsorship letter of Silvia which was required to get visitor’s visa to India.
Hurt by this, Daniel decided to seek help from India including from union government.
Daniel has uploaded photos, the marriage certificate issued by the church and the marriage registration certificate issued by Pakistan’s Punjab government with the Twitter post.
Daniel has also sought the help of MP?Pralhad Joshi and leader of opposition in legislative assembly Jagadish Shettar.
Hubballi Tahasildar Shashidhar Madyal said that Daniel had also approached him. He asked Daniel to approach appropriate authorities. “When we get orders from the higher officials, we will help.” he said.
