Mangaluru, Apr 2: Expert PU College, which has always been in the forefront of promoting science education, has this year ably guided its 11 students to be eligible for the KVPY fellowship 2016-17.
The 'Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana' (KVPY) is a programme started in 1999 by the department of science and technology (DST), government of India to encourage students who are studying basic sciences to take up research career in science. The aim of this programme is to identify and encourage talented and motivated students to pursue career in research, thus promoting the spirit of scientific inquiry. This programme aims to assist the students to realize their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is groomed for research and development in the country. Generous fellowship and contingency grant are provided to the selected KVPY students up to the pre PhD level or 5 years course in basic science, whichever is earlier. In addition, summer camps for the KVPY fellows are organized in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country. This time, approximately 3 lac students all over India have written KVPY exam held in October 2016 and totally 1,692 students who have just completed 2nd PU exams are only selected under SX stream. These students are eligible to get a yearly scholarship of Rs 80,000 to Rs 1,12,000.

Chairman of EXPERT Group of Institutions Narendra L Nayak has congratulated these students on their superb performance and wished them even better success for all the upcoming examinations.
