Mangaluru, Apr 1: Adding yet another feather to its brimming cap, the city's St Agnes College (Autonomous) has secured the top slot among colleges in Karnataka by receiving the coveted 'A+' grade accredition by NAAC with CGPA of 3.65 out of 4 in cycle 4.
St Agnes College (Autonomous) is a premier Catholic women's college established in 1921 by Mother Aloysia at Mangaluru. From its inception, the College has imparted higher education to the women of the entire nation for the past 96 years and proved to be a standard bearer of repute in the field of education.
The College, all set to celebrate its centenary year in 2020-21, has made it to the top slot as the only college in the whole of Karnataka to have been assessed and accredited by NAAC with 'A+' grade CGPA 3.65 out of 4 in cycle 4. This comes in the wake of the College receiving the recognition of 'College of Excellence' from the UGC. The attempt of the College in quality enhancement is clear in the steady improvement in the accreditation and assessment grades that the college has received three times earlier: Five Star Status in 1999, reaccredited with 'A' grade in 2005 and 'A' grade with CGPA 3.53 in 2012.
"It is the collective effort of all the stakeholders of the College that has made it possible for the College to earn the coveted grading," acknowledges the principal of the College Dr Sr Jeswina. "I am grateful to Dr Malini Hebbar, internal quality assurance cell (IQAC) coordinator, Dr Vishala B K IQAC secretary, Dr Noeline Pinto, IQAC guide, the convenors of the 7 parameters and every member of the faculty for their commitment and generous service in accomplishing the assignment given to them," she adds.
