Chamarajanagar, Mar 31: Leader of the opposition in the state legislative council, K S Eshwarappa, said that he has information that Congress, which is hell bent on winning this bypoll at any cost, has been distributing money to voters at the rate of Rs 4,000 for every vote. He requested the voters to receive money offered by Congress party functionaries and cast their votes to BJP.
During the election campaigning in favour of BJP candidate, C S Niranjan Kumar, at Chikkati village of Gundlupet taluk on Thursday March 30, Eshwarappa said that the 'Congress drama company' being run by energy minister, D K Shivakumar, has taken to illegal means to win this bypoll.
"As per the information I have collected, Congress is offering as high as Rs 4,000 for every voter who promises to vote for that party. I therefore, request the voters to accept money offered by Congress party but vote for BJP on polling day," he stated.
He further justified his advice by saying that the money being distributed by Congress belongs to the general public and hence there is nothing wrong in collecting money.
In a sarcastic comment about shedding of tears by Congress candidate in the constituency, Geetha Mahadev Prasad, Eshwarappa said that after the conclusion of this bypoll, it will be the turn of D K Shivakumar and dozens of other ministers to shed copious tears.
