Mysuru, Mar 29: Congress candidate for Gundlupet constituency, where the by-election will be held very soon, Geeta Mahadeva Prasad on Tuesday March 28, blamed state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa for her letting her down.
“Yeddyurappa came to my house on the day of the sadly demise of my husband. He kept his hand on my head and promised that he will help me to get elected to the Legislative Assembly unopposed. Forget about that promise which did not materialise at all. Instead, his party people are talking ill about me now,” Geeta said at her residence speaking to media.
“Yeddyurappa is a distant relative of mine. He said election should be avoided and I should be elected unopposed. When BJP people talk ill about me, it hurts a lot. Taking some slaps is better than bearing with this pain,” Geeta added.
“I entered politics after 40,000 people, who had come for my husband’s post-funeral rituals, insisted. If I had known that politics is so bad, I would not have come here. The criticism and remarks I heard recently are disgusting. I came only after taking blessing from Suttur Seer. I was brought up in cultured family. I have a son and daughter-in-law. Those people who talk ill about women, do not they have females at their homes?” Geeta said.
Meanwhile Yeddyurappa refuted the charges and said “I could not have talked about election on the day of the death of her husband. Fielding a candidate against her from our party is a natural thing in politics. Suttur Seer blessed our candidate also.”
Energy minister D K Shivakumar has said that Suttur Seer should come to the rescue of Geeta Mahadeva Prasad as she is being targeted by BJP.
