Mangaluru, Mar 27: Two unidentified persons attacked a youth at Kodi near Ullal with the intention of murder on the midnight of Sunday, March 26.
Naushad Hussein (23) from Kodi is the person injured.
Naushad Hussein was going to work at a samosa manufacturing unit at Mukkacherry on his bike when the attackers came on a bike. They stopped Naushad and attacked him with a sword. Naushad managed to confront them by holding his hand as a shield.
Naushad fell down from his bike and sustained injuries on his hand from the sword. Police personnel who were on patrol came to the spot after hearing the sound of cries of Naushad. But by then one attacker ran away and another sped by bike from the spot. A person named Fairoz who was going to his home at Mukkacherry by car witnessed the incident. Timely arrival of police saved Naushad from further danger to his life.
It is suspected that Ramith from Mogaveerapatna and Ramith from Ullal who were in jail and released two days back could have conspired to kill Naushad. Both were detained for murder attempt on Ibrahim Nasfan. Fisherman Raju Kotian’s murder was the reason for this, police sources said. Both these suspects Ramith and Ramith were released only in March 25.
City police commissioner Chandra Shekar, DCPs Shantharaju and Sanjeev Patil, ACP Shruthi, police personnel from Ullal police station and CCB visited the spot and investigations are on. Meanwhile, heavy security has been put in place in Ullal area.
