Kasargod, Mar 25: Various weapons including a sword were found among some bushes in a deserted spot on the outskirts of Kasargod town here on Saturday March 25.
Based on credible information, the police raided the spot and found a sword, a machete, iron rods, wooden staves, sticks, liquor, beer bottles, utensils and other items.
The items were found on a private land at Kambar Periyadka.
Police have learnt that a systematic plan had been in place to stir clashes in the district. It is suspected that a gang might have spent the night at the spot, and kept the weapons and utensils ready to counter any situation if clashes were to erupt. The gang had also planned to create unrest in the district in the coming days, police suspect. However, the police have thus far failed to arrest the gang members.
Intelligence officials have reportedly learnt miscreants have been planning to create trouble in the outskirts of Kasargod and other surrounding areas. The discovery of weapons at the deserted spot hence gains significance.
Kasargod police led by circle inspector Abdul Rahim took possessions of the weapons and other items. Further investigations are on.
