Mother - son murder in USA : No hate crime, husband's role suspected

Hyderabad, Mar 25 (Deccan Chronicle) : An IT professional from Andhra Pradesh and her seven-year-old son were found murdered in their apartment at Burlington, New Jersey, US, on Thursday.

Narra Sasikala, 40, and her son Anish Sai were found stabbed to death. According to reports coming in from the US, the bodies were found with multiple stab wounds. Authorities said “at this point, there is no indication that this is a hate crime.”

Hanumantha Rao, who also works as a software engineer, had informed his in-laws that he found the bodies of his wife and son when he returned home from work on Thursday evening and called emergency services.

New Jersey police has questioned Hanumantha Rao in connection with the murders. His relatives in Prakasam district claimed he had been released, and had called home.

The family had migrated to the US 10 years ago. The murder comes amid hate crimes against Indians, including the shooting down of a Hyderabadi techie Srinivas Kuchibhotla.

Sasikala’s parents, retired teachers Sunkara Venkateswar Rao and Krishna Kumari, who stay in Vijayawada, alleged that Hanumantha Rao, who is also a software engineer, had committed the murder because he was having an extramarital affair.

Representatives of the Telugu Association of North America said they had been following up with the police and were trying to make arrangements to send the bodies to India.

Just because the Husband was questioned and released does not mean that he is not a suspect in the murders. It simply means that the police had no legal justification to hold him in custody at tis point. As the investigation progresses, he may be arrested if evidence is found of his involvement.

Let the investigation complete. It is too early to say who did this and why?
Can her husband do this, yes he can but the Circumstances, Chances doing so is Slim.
He know the law will get to him. There are chances he may be involved indirectly.

It is no use commenting on this issue till the truth comes out. There may be several reasons why mother-son were brutally murdered and that too in broad daylight. New Jersey, US police will find the culprit at the earliest.

@Stan Udipi,it can be also other way round.when husbands start extramarital affairs ,and ask husbands ,then it can be a hot spot ,and want wife and child to getaway .Or many in USA make life insurance on wife and ´child a huge amount.when he /she wants to moveaway and start something new with ..their new love then a good amount isnt a bad idea.so the wife and child had to pay for it .They engage profi Killers to do when they go to work.So is in USA sometimes. (Killers)But many stiches means may not be profi Killers.may their souls rest in peace.killer should get heavy punishment.lifetime in jail.

It is too premature to comment at this stage, what Stan says is unlikely to happen in this country by the
recent immigrants that too with No Green Card, forget about Citizens. With ten years in this Country,
we know the mind set Indian families, I could read their mind better than most being myself a part of Police Dept., New Jersey. Whatever the reason, will find some answers sooner or later.
Rest in Peace Sasikala and Anisa.

It is a typical Indian notion to suspect the husband (and his entire extended family) of grave crime the moment his wife dies.

In fact the man (and his extended family) is held guilty by everyone - wife's extended family, the police, society, media, courts, etc etc.

However the reality may be quite different.

Many woman go through mood swings and depression. Many women commit suicide because of this depression.

Many Indian women who go to a Western country find it impossible to adjust to the society/lifestyle in those countries. They are too scared to get out of the house, and too depressed sitting inside the house.

They can't talk to anyone, except a few from their own tribe. Not because of a language issue, but because of utterly low self-esteem.

In such situations, the man lives a life from hell, but who can he complain to?

So, my suggestion to all the young men who go abroad: wait until your future wife turns 40 before marrying her. There is hopefully a lesser chance of being declared an evil monster by everyone!

I agree with you. All the glitter is not gold.
I strongly feel, this might be a case of depression and suicide, even though there was no suicide note.
One's mind can go to any extent. After consuming pain killers, or drugs, one can commit suicide by self inflicting wounds.

I will not doubt the husband's role as he was on duty. But he might be the cause for suicide. He can very well send the family back to India. After all, having extra marital affair in Western country is not at all, big issue.
