Mangaluru, Mar 24: Rich tributes were paid to Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director of Father Muller Charitable Hospital who passed away on Thursday March 24, in a solemn ceremony organized in the chapel at Father Muller. Mangaluru bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza offered holy Mass, with the mortal remains of Fr Patrick kept in a casket.
Father Muller hospital staff, doctors, management of colleges and students participated in the mass. Former director of the hospital, Fr Peter Noronha offered homage and said that his companionship, service and the way he ran the organization during the last ten years were commendable. Head of the department of medicine at FMMCH, Dr Sanjeeva Rai lauded the administration of Fr Patrick Rodrigues, his rapport with the staff and admired the ideal life he led.
Bishop Aloysius Paul D' Souza said that Fr Patrick Rodrigues had taken Fr Muller Charitable Institutions to greater heights and recollected that he had congratulated Fr Patrick during the inauguration of Father Muller Convention Center.
Father Muller Hospital administrator Fr Richard Coelho, Father Muller Medical College administrator Fr Rudolf Ravi D'Sa, Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay administrator Fr Roshan Crasta, Deralakatte Homeopathic hospital administrator Fr Vincent Saldanha, Father Muller hospital assistant administrator Fr Ajith Menezes and others were present.
Fr Roshan Crasta compered the programme. Fr Richard Coelho proposed the vote of thanks.
A large number of people paid their last respects to Fr Patrick.

Mangaluru: Father Muller director Fr Patrick Rodrigues passes away

Mangaluru, Mar 23: Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), passed away on Thursday March 23. He was 65.
It is learnt that he passed away at around 7.45 pm.
Born on August 17, 1951 to Raymond and Piad Rodrigues, Fr Patrick was ordained priest in May 1978.
Fr Patrick did his MA from Karnataka University, after which he obtained a masters degree in public health from New York University. He then completed PG diploma in financial management from the prestigious Harvard Business School in Boston.
He served as assistant parish priest of Barkur and Kinnigoli, after which he was appointed parish priest of Sampaje. He then took up the position of administrator of St John Medical College and Hospital in 1991, and went on to become its assistant director in 2000.
He served as parish priest of Kinnigoli between 2003 and 2007 before taking charge as director of FMCI in 2007.
As director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, he was instrumental in initiating several programmes and development works of the Institution, the latest being the state-of-the-art Father Muller Convention Centre which opened recently.
Final rites will be held on Sunday March 26 at Infant Jesus Church, Modankap, Bantwal at 3.30 pm.
