Mangaluru, Mar 23: Police here on Wednesday, March 22 arrested 4 notorious criminals who were involved in many thefts including that of cows.
Mohammed Ajab (21) from Bajal, Hidayat (22) from Chembugudde, Mutalib (38) from Manjanady, Abdul Karim (46) from Chembugudde are the persons arrested.
Another accused named Salim Chembugudde who is believed to be part of the gang is absconding.
Two bikes and a scooter have been seized from the accused.
Several cases stand registered at police stations in Konaje, Suratkal, Ullal, Mangaluru North, Puttur and Kadaba against the arrested persons. Recently they had stolen 4 cows from a house in Capitanio, bikes within the limits of Mangaluru North police station and garments from a shop at Pumpwell. They were also involved in a theft attempt at a house in Kannur.
The operation was carried out under the instructions from city police commissioner Chandra Shekar, in which Kankanady police inspector Ravi Nayak led the team with other police personnel.
Police said that with these arrests, about 7 cases of theft have been cracked.
