Kasargod: Police still clueless about Madrasa teacher Riyaz's murder

Kasargod, Mar 22: Kannur police investigating team led by Dr A Srinivas arrived in Kasargod to investigate the murder of Madrasa teacher Riyaz from Madikeri.

The team conducted inspection of the mosque and the surrounding places where the murder took place.

They collected details from mosque office bearers and from Abdul Azeez who was present during the incident. The team has to identify the way by which the killers entered as there are five different ways into the mosque.


Riyaz 

As many as 27 people have been taken into custody for questioning. The investigation is progressing with the interrogation of an alleged suspect of two murders and information from mobile towers of Kasargod and Choori area at late night, when the murder took place.

Scientific evidences are being collected. CCTV footages of Kasargod and the suburbs are being investigated. The police are facing a challenge as most of the cameras in the area do not function. Those who go about by bikes at nights are being watched. The CCTV camera recordings did not provide much information. Investigations are being conducted to know if there was a conspiracy of murder.

SP Dr A Srinivas, Waynad DSP P G Jayadev, Malappuram armed reserve squad DySP Mohan Chandran, Taliparamba Circle inspector P K Sudhakaran are in the team being supervised by Kannur IG.

Kasargod police team has registered nine cases regarding unpleasant incidents reported on Monday after the murder and four suspects have been arrested. 18 people were taken into custody as a precautionary measure. More than 15 vehicles including buses had been damaged in the incidents.

A close watch has been kept to prevent recurrence of such unpleasant incidents.
