Bantwal, Mar 17: Bantwal police on Friday March 17 raided a spot at Balimar on the banks of Netravati river where illegal sand mining was going on and seized sand and other goods worth Rs 10 lac.
On receiving definite information that illegal sand mining was in progress at Barimar, the police conducted the raid and recovered nearly 20 loads of sand.
As many as 16 boats used for illegal sand mining were also seized.
The total value of the seized sand and other goods is estimated at Rs 10 lac.
CPI Manjayya and staff led by additional SP Vedamurthi and Bantwal DySP Ravish C R conducted the raid under the guidance of SP Bhushan G Borase.
A case has been registered in Bantwal rural police station.
