Mysuru: Drug addict tries to immolate grandparents for giving sane advice

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru (SP)

Mysuru, Mar 17: In a shocking incident which happened at Hebbalu in the city on Thursday March 16, a young lady tried to set her grandparents afire. It is said that the woman, who is into modelling, and who is heavily addicted to drugs, was angry at the efforts being made by her aged grandparents to bring back her senses.

The girl in question has been identified as Priyadarshini (22). She is a fashion model and had been addicted to drugs since long. After her parents divorced, the girl's mother had committed suicide two years back. The girl, who had failed to clear PU examination, had started to live with her grandparents since then.

The youngster did not take kindly to the advice being meted out to her by her aged grandparents, Somasundar (85), and his wife, Leelavathi, residents of Laxmikantha Nagara in Hebbalu here. Attacking her grandparents was her routine habit, neighbours stated. On Thursday too, the lady got wild after her grandparents advised her to mend her ways. She threatened them on Thursday afternoon of killing them, put them inside the house, and then set the swing on fire.

By the time the flames spread to the whole house, the neighbours called the police and fire brigade. The personnel from both these departments arrived and stopped fire from spreading, and rescued the trapped senior citizens from inside the house. Those living in the vicinity said that Priyadarshini, who is addicted to drugs and liquor, has made it a habit to misbehave with the neighbours too apart from creating problems for them. A case stands registered against the lady in Hebbalu police station and investigation has been taken up.

Healing from addiction takes time. Making up her mind to stop using drugs is a big step. Being addicted makes her afraid of what will happen if she doesn't keep taking the drug. People often won't try quitting until they're forced to, because it seems too hard.
When one stop using the drug, it upsets their body and brain. They might feel very sick for a while, and feel a very strong need to take the drug. It can be really hard to refuse to use the drug when they feel that bad.
But she doesn't have to do it alone. Support groups, treatment programs, and sometimes medicines can help. She can meet people who understand what she's going through, who can give her advice and cheer her on. Counselors can help find medicines that make her feel less sick and reduce her cravings to use the drug. They can also teach her how to cope with problems without using drugs.

Acting, modelling, sports, and many other activities cannot be conducted unless people consume certain substances.

Many years ago, alcohol was the substance.

Then it has been the turn of drugs.

Most people here may not be aware, but college students easily become prey to drugs.

Want to keep at least some people from becoming prey to drugs? Stop watching all movies and entertainment. This will make the entertainment industry less attractive to new entrants.

    But easier said than done.

Look at Punjab. Statistics show that 7 persons out of 10 consumes drugs. Men and women.

Parents divorced, mother committed suicide. But, the father is alive ? Please let her be closer to someone she directly relates so that she feels wanted, not rejected.

She may have gone too much inside the bad world and it may take quite as much time to bring her back but we can't let a soul die a silent death this way.

After her parents divorced, the girl's mother had committed suicide two years back its written. it means the girl never found any comfort or love at home which is a basic requirement of every child.
So she looked for comfort in drugs and things outside. Parents are partly responsible.
Now needs proper counselling and rehabilitation.

@Robin Byndoor,What you say is acceptable. But her father is still alive or not?Does he not have any responsibility towards his daughter?Does it end when he takes a second wife and leave daughter to her graveyard going? No wonder Girl is adicted to drugs and alcohol. No advice is going inside when a Person is addicted to alcohol, drugs.Best is she should be treated in a clinic to comeout of this .she must be doing her modelling out of sheer lack of Money?without a proper Treatment she is a hopeless case.let some unions or any other templeheads get her treated.I admire her Grand parents for taking her in their shelter.with their Age,even though her father is still alive.?

Yes. Father may be alive (Don't know for sure... But may live like Dead or discarded by society as well).. This is the situation in many families where Father is the culprit. Mother is not. In such a family children learn a lot of life. They follow the advice and style of mother. Here mother suicided after divorce. It seems this girl not followed the things of Mother and turned a self decision maker in the absence of fathers control. may it is the reason for mothers suicide as well.

So, We can assume many stories. Real truth may be neighbours know. Some help from somebody is required here.

What you say Rita ma'am... ?
