Mangaluru, Mar 16: Days after an undertrial escaped from the Mangaluru district prison, jail superintendent Krishnamurthy has been transferred.
Jinnappa Parava (43), an undetrial facing several cases including charges under POCSO, had jumped over the prison wall between 3.30 and 4 am on March 10. He was later arrested in Sullia and handed over to Barke police.
Following his jailbreak, the DIG from Belagavi T P Shesha had visited the prison and taken the jail staff to task.
DGP (prisons) Satyanarayan on Thursday March 16 issued orders to transfer Krishnamurthy to Bengaluru.
Also, jail wardens S Kathari and B Rangappa have been suspended.
Suresh has been appointed new jail superintendent in Krishnamurthy's place.
The orders were issued following a report on the security at the jail was submitted by DIG T P Sesha to the DGP.
