Mangaluru: Jeevandhara trust celebrates international women's day

Mangaluru, Mar 16: Jeevandhara Social Service Trust celebrated International Women’s Day at Sacred Heart’s High School Hall, Kulshekar on March 15.















Malini Rodrigues, community affairs officer, Mangaluru City Corporation was the chief guest on the occasion. Sr Mariola BS, provincial councilor and secetary of Bethany Educational Society, Mangalore province presided over the programme. Sathish Attavar, counsellor at Jnana Jyothi Fincial Literary Centre sponsored by Syndicate Bank and Annapoorna, president of Prakrathi Mahila Sangha, Shakthinagar were the guests of the programme.

Malini Rodrigues in her address upheld the role of women in today’s society and spoke on various government schemes and benefits that are provided for the welfare of women. Sathish Attavar guided the gathering regarding various banking facilities and other schemes for women and girl child. He also enlightened them regarding other general savings schemes. Sr Mariola BS in her presidential address called the women to move forward for the betterment of the society with courage and hope and also be bold for change.

Sr Josephine BS, pioneer of Jeevandhara Social Service Centre was honoured for her great zeal, love for the poor and untiring dedication in uplifting women and girl children.

Women from self help groups learning different vocational skills including tailoring, beautician and embroidery graced the occasion and showcased their talents participating in various games.

Sr Preethi BS and Devika Devadiga presented the report.

Earlier, Sr Anna Maria BS Secetary of Jeevandhara Social Service Trust welcomed the gathering. Komalakshi compered the programme and Ashwini delivered the vote of thanks.
