Chennai, Mar 7 (IANS): Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation or Rosatom closed 2016 with its overseas order book position valued around $133 billion, the company said.
The company's order book includes the orders from India which is in the process of setting up two more units at Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli district around 650 km from here.
Rosatom ranks first in the world in the construction of nuclear power plants overseas.
The company is implementing construction projects for 34 units in 12 countries spread over in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa as well as in the Asia-Pacific region, the company said in a statement late Monday.
"According to the results of 2016, Rosatom's backlog of foreign orders for ten years exceeds $133 billion," the statement added.
The Russian company is also building two nuclear power units in Hungary.
"Advanced Russian Gen 3+ units will be built in Hungary in compliance with post-Fukushima safety requirements and IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) recommendations," stated Kirill Komarov, First Deputy CEO of Rosatom.
"Along with reliable green and affordable energy, the project will also boost national economy development, create new jobs, provide orders for the local industry," Komarov added.
