Sakshi Malik lashes out at Haryana government for not delivering on promises

New Delhi, Mar 5 (Agencies) : Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik on Saturday lashed out at Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel, Haryana's Sports Minister Anil Vij and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for not delivering on their promises made after her incredible feat in the prestigious quadrennial event.

The BJP-led Haryana Government had announced a financial award of Rs 2.5 crores as well as a government job for Sakshi after her Rio feat.

The state government had also declared that she would be appointed as the Wrestling Director at Maharshi Dayanand University in her native Rohtak.

Chief Minister Khattar had also announced Malik as the brand ambassador of the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' initiative in Haryana.

However, by the looks of it, it doesn't seem that the state government has delivered on their performance.

"Medal ka vada maine pura kiya, Haryana sarkar apna vada kab pura karegi? (I fulfilled my promise of winning an Olympic medal for the country, when will Haryana government fulfill its promise?)," tweeted Sakshi.

Sakshi become the first woman wrestler in India to win an Olympic medal with her bronze in the 58 kilogram freestyle event.

Defying all odds and displaying a killer instinct, women athletes Sakshi Malik, silver medallist P.V.Sindhu and gymnast Dipa Karmakar saved India the blushes by performing superbly at this year's summer games.
