MUMBAI, Feb 29: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's son Amit wed TV actress Aditi Pratap Ghorpade here on Thursday at a ceremony in a posh hotel, attended by bigwigs from politics, business and entertainment industry.
Those present included Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna, senior Congress leaders Oscar Fernandes and Ghulam Nabi Azad and noted film director Karan Johar.
Deshmukh, who is into his second term at the helm of Maharashtra, had visited Delhi along with wife Vaishali to personally invite President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and other dignitaries for the wedding.
The President is expected to attend the reception, to be held here on Friday. However, there is no word yet from Deshmukh's office if Singh and Gandhi would be attending the event on a day when the Union budget would be presented in parliament.
Amit is Deshmukh's political manager in his Latur constituency in Marathwada region and is chairman of a cooperative sugar factory.
Aditi is the daughter of Bangalore-based businessman Pratap Ghorpade, who belongs to a family of marathas settled in the South centuries ago.
