Cameroon arrive in Zambia for Africa U-20 tournament


Lusaka, Feb 22 (IANS): The Cameroon U-20 national football team have arrived in Zambia ahead of the start of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament this weekend.

The Junior Indomitable Lions became the first team to arrive for the tournament which starts on February 26, according to a statement posted on the website of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) on Tuesday.

Cameroon are placed in Group B alongside Senegal, South Africa and Sudan while hosts Zambia are in Group A alongside Egypt, Guinea and Mali, reports Xinhua news agency.

This year's event is the 20th edition, which is held biennially and will run from February 26 to March 12.

Matches will be played in two venues, the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola city on the Copperbelt province and the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, the country's capital.

The group winners and runners-up will advance to the semi-finals and qualify for the 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
