Mangaluru, Feb 21: Police personnel of Kadri station here raided a lodge at Pumpwell in the city on sunday February 19 after getting information about sex trade being carried out there. During this raid, they took two men, who allegedly were found involved with running of the brothel, into custody.
A sum of Rs 10,500 was recovered from the arrested accused apart from five cellphones. They have been identified as Tarun (32) from Boloor here and Muhammed Ali (29), a native of Venoor. Owner of the lodge, Ashok Shetty, is said to have escaped during the raid.
Two women were rescued from the spot. The police said that they have been sent to a remand home.
The raid was conducted by a team led by Kadri police inspector, Maruti Nayak, under the guidance of assistant commissioner of police, Uday Nayak. The accused were produced in court on Monday, after which they were remanded to judicial custody.
