Vani's return adds colour to 4th leg of women's golf meet

Kolkata, Feb 20 (IANS): With one win each for Neha Tripathi, Amandeep Drall and Gaurika Bishnoi in the first three legs, and the return of Vani Kapoor from her overseas commitments, the fourth Leg of the Hero Womens Professional Golf Tour at the Tollygunge Club promises to be an exciting contest that will begin from Tuesday.

Gaurika is currently leading the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of Rs 300,000. Having won the previous leg, Gaurika will look to add another win to her tally and consolidate her position atop the money list.

Neha is currently placed second in the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of Rs 2,70,000. She hasn't been at her best in the last few events and will be keen to make amends.

Another strong contender for the title is Amandeep, who has registered one win and one runner-up finish in two appearances. She is currently placed fourth in the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of Rs 2,46,000.

However, Gaurika, Neha and Amandeep will have to ward off a strong challenge from the likes of Smriti Mehra and Vani Kapoor.

Kolkata's Smriti Mehra's performance has been consistent in the previous events, and she will look to win her maiden title of the season. She is currently placed third in the money list with total earnings of Rs 2,52,000.

The fourth leg also marks the return of Delhi's Vani, who had a sensational season last year, having won seven titles and finishing atop the Hero Order of Merit. She too will look to grab a win in her first appearance this season.

Chandigarh's Saaniya Sharma who finished runner-up in the last event, will be looking to better her performance with a win here.

Other players in the fray are Kapurthala's Gursimar Badwal, Sharmila Nicollet and Jaipur's Afshan Fatima.
