Mangaluru, Feb 20 (IANS): On account of National Cancer Prevention Month, A J Hospital & Research Centre in association with School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya organized a cancer awareness programme for health and community workers on February 18 at Roshni Nilaya.
Corrine A Rasquinha, founder president trustee of White Doves here and a cancer survivor was the chief guest. Dr Prashanth Marla, medical director A J Hospital & Research Centre was guest of honor, Dr Jenis Mary, vice principal Roshni Nilaya presided, Dr Naveen R Rodrigues, consultant pain and palliative care and Dr Kavitha, consultant radiation oncologist of A J Cancer Institute, A J Hospital & Research Centre were the resource persons and explained about cancer and the importance of its early detection.
Students from Roshni Nilaya through a role play depicted how today’s youth are getting attracted to bad habits and succumbing to cancer. Dr Meera Monteiro HOD department of medical and psychiatric social work and students were present. Ramya B, student convenor department of medical and psychiatric social work, Roshni Nilaya welcomed the gathering and Maria Shanthi, social worker A J Hospital & Research Centre delivered the vote of thanks.
