Mumbai, Feb 13: Goregaon Karnataka Sangha celebrated its 59th annual festival at Bajaj auditorium, Malad west on Sunday February 12. The programme was presided over by Kadandale Parari Prakash L Shetty of Maharashtra National Investigation Agency, Bharath Bank deputy executive president. Public prosecutor of Maharashtra, advocate Rohini J Salian spoke on the loftiness of the judiciary and dramatist Dr Bharath Kumar Polipu spoke on the directions of youth.
“Our country will be on the path of development when it gets relief from corruption. Therefore, we have to inculcate social values to the youth to see corruption free India. Demonitization has caused hardship to politicians and not to common men. Yet opposition parties have opposed it,” said Prakash Shetty in his presidential address.
Devalkunda Bhasker Shetty, president of the Sangha welcomed and gave the keynote address. Former presidents of the Sangha, Ravi R Anchan, Mundkooru Surendra Salian, V P Kotian, Shakuntala R Prabhu, S M Shetty and others were present. The guests handed over annual aid to children of the members of the sangha and wished the children well. Bhaker T Ameen, Padmaja Mannooru, Laxmi R Shetty, Vidya Deshpande, Sachindra K Kotian, Gunodaya S L, Suguna S Bangera and others presented momentos and flower bouquets to the artistes and felicitated them.
Seema Shetty, Veda Shetty and Shanta Shetty sang a prayer, Vasanthi Kotekar, Mohini L Poojary and Veda Suvarna sang the welcome song. Shivananda Shetty compered the cultural programme. Vishalakshi Voolavaara, Meena B Kalavar, Sujatha Poojary and Vasanthi Kotekar introduced the guests. Honorary treasurer Narayana R Mendon, former president G T Acharya, Payyaru Ramesh Shetty, Sumitra Gujaran presented mementos to the guests and honored them. Honorary chief secretary Jayakar D Poojary compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
