Kundpaur, Feb 10: Narayan Shetty (54), a resident of Noojattu Gourimane Adi near Ardi in the taluk, who was working as teacher at the government lower primary school at Mandi Moorukai, committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance.
The family members, in a report filed at Shankarnarayana police station, suspected that Shetty was fed up with life because of the fact that he was suffering from cancer since long.
On Tuesday morning, Narayan Shetty, who left in the morning with the stated purpose of visiting the hospital, had not returned even at night. The family members searched for him and made enquiries at various places including houses of his relatives and friends but failed to find him out. On Thursday, his body was found in a ditch some distance away from his home near Daranadi.
Shetty had worked in Bangady near Beltangady, Indabettu, government primary school in Shedimane, Arasammakanu and Mandi Moorukai. He has left behind his wife, a daughter and a son. Shankarnarayana police, who have registered a case of unnatural death, have begun investigation.
