Kasargod, Feb 6: Excise department officials, who stopped a youth found to be moving around suspiciously at Kumble railway station, found him to be possessing ganja worth Rs 40 lac. He has been taken into custody.
The arrested man has been identified as Ratish M (30), resident of Neyyantingara in Thiruvananthapuram. He was carrying ganja in a trolley bag. The policemen said that he was the main link through whom ganja is being distributed to various parts of the district.
During searches conducted, 18.750 kg of ganja was found in a hand bag and suitcase carried by Ratish. The ganja was stuffed in 19 sachets.
The operation was led by Kumble excise officer, Robin Baby P J, assistant, M V Baburaj, and others.
