New Delhi, Feb 5 (IANS): In a bid to promote the sport at the grassroots level, sportswear manufacturer adidas has announced the launch of its first ever urban football destination -- the Base, Plaza -- in Chhattarpur here.
Star Indian players Rohit Sharma, K.L. Rahul and former Nigerian FIFA World Cup player Rabiu Afolabi on Saturday inaugurated the 'Base', which was designed to enhance the playing experience.
Commenting on the launch, Football director, adidas India Hrishikesh Shende said: "Football in India is growing rapidly with many young players aspiring to turn professional."
"We are extremely delighted to provide a world-class facility for the next generation of footballers. The BASE in Delhi will become a focal point of grassroots football and we are looking to take the concept to other metros this year," he added.
