Kundapur: Collision between Bullet bike, private bus claims youth's life

Kundapur, Feb 2: A young man was killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a Royal Enfield Bullet bike and a private bus Kattemukki under Shankaranarayana police limits here on Thursday February 2 evening.

The deceased has been identified as Prakash Shetty (28), son of Manjunath Shetty, resident of Kotechettu in Hebri.

Prakash was working at Shree Durga travel agency in Hebri.

On Thursday, he was riding his Bullet bike from Siddapur towards Hebri, when a Durgamba bus plying from Udupi towards Siddapur crashed into him at Kattemukki. The impact of the accident was such that Prakash died on the spot.

Shankaranarayana police have registered a case.

    Introduction of Government rural transport is the best solution to end the monopoly and road rage .

    In India nearly 5 lakh deaths due to road accidents. Only grieving families remain to be cautious after they lose loved ones. Rest of India goes to normal as if nothing happened.

    India need to rewrite its 'transport safety'.

    Hope God give the patience to bear the loss of loved ones.

    Mumbai Bike riding is far safe then Namma Maglore Udupi Kundarpura....

    Why only private bus in DK? Why not Govt buses? People should go for BIG protest against this killer private buses.

    Accidents like these are ever on the increase. Whereas the actual cause of the accident has yet to be established, it is common knowledge that drivers of buses over-speed. It was suggested earlier that these buses should be fitted with speed governors. Hope this idea takes a shape so that precious lives can be saved.

    Its the bikers fault which resulted the accident. Bus driver tried maximum to avoid, if fact he avoided front tyres but unfortunately couldn't avoid the rear. No doubt buses nowadays are very rash, especially the new marco polo buses, they are driven at high speeds, god knows how they manipulate speed gorvonor & these buses are not supposed to go more than 70 kmph, but run at 100kmpl.

    Local people of the area should protest and ask for JNURM buses in the area. Ban these private buses.
