Udupi, Feb 1: KPCC executive president Gundu Rao on Wednesday, February 1 said that the resignation of former chief minister of Karnataka, S M Krishna from the Congress party was a huge loss.
“His decision was a great loss for Congress party members. We respected him and it was shocking for all congress leaders. Though it was his personal decision, I was very much surprised by it.”
“S M Krishna has already given his clarification over the decision to quit the party to senior Congress leaders who met him. I don’t know the exact reason of his quitting. Maybe he was expecting higher positions such as the President or Prime Minister but Congress could not fulfil it.”
Gundu Rao was speaking at the seventh centenary celebrations of Sri Madhwacharya at Sri Krishna Math.
He said, “Sri Krishna temple is a holy place for revitalization of our mind. The temple energizes our mind. For a human being, spirituality is connected to his achievements. Without spirituality all our achievements become meaningless. The works should give the testimony of our life.”
“Development, progress and technology are possible today because of God's grace. The power of human life is hidden in the soul. Even great scientists were inspired by God. Spirituality is the need of the hour today for the country. Humanity should be placed first in our life, followed by good thoughts and values taught by all religious books.”
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Vishwesha Theerta Swamiji said, “We have wrong notion about Madhwacharya and his principles. He was ill treated by upper classes. There is no caste and religion differences for devotees. All can choose the path of righteousness and are eligible to get ‘nirvana’.”
Speaking about the sudden demise of Union minister E Ahamed, Rao said, “There is no provision to hold Parliamentary session in case of any parliamentary member dies.According the instruction of speaker Sumithra Mahajan, the budget session was presented on priority as it was the first day of parliamentary session.”
