Mangaluru: Histopathology tissue processor ‘Histocore Pearl’ installed at FMMC

Mangaluru, Jan 27: The state of the art and highly advanced histopathology tissue processor ‘HistoCore Pearl’ from Leica Biosystems was installed in the histopathology division of Father Muller Medical College Hospital Laboratory.

The machine has 3.5 liter capacity reagent bottles, has vacuum facility and can process 200 cassettes at a time. The machine is simple to operate with touch screen facility and has custom made processing protocols.

A few selected tissues such as small biopsies can be processed within 2-hours and the biopsy report can be given on the same day in critical cases.

It also has Reagent Management System (RMS) for optimal reagent usage.

The machine is totally enclosed, has fume extraction, activated carbon filter to detoxify the toxic fumes that decreases the exposure to toxic fumes and enhances the safety of the users. The equipment also has the provision to run on xylene-free mode. The equipment is really a great boon to the Central Laboratory.

The equipment was blessed by Rev Fr Richard Coelho, Administrator of the Hospital. Dr Umashankar the Lab Director welcomed the gathering and Dr Hilda proposed vote of thanks.

Dr Sanjeev Rai, Chief of Medical Services, Sr Janet, Chief Nursing Officer, Dr Shivashanker Quality Manager and Post Graduates and technicians were present on the occasion.
