Xavi renews with Al Sadd for another season

Doha, Jan 27 (IANS): Spanish football player Xavi Hernandez renewed his contract with Qatari side Al Sadd until the end of the 2017-18 season.

The Spanish midfielder, who turned 37 on Wednesday, arrived at Al Saad at the start of the 2015-16 season after 17 seasons with Barcelona, Efe reported on Thursday.

His team is now ranked second in the Qatari league with 40 points, three behind leaders Lekhwiya after 17 weeks.
