Udupi, Jan 24: The mortal remains of a youth who had gone missing under mysterious circumstances were found lying on the seashore at Uchila on Monday January 23. The man, identified as Rajesh (21), who was of Hassan origin and current resident of Kodical, had left home for the stated purpose of work but had not been seen thereafter.
Rajesh, who came to stay with his aunt at her home at Kodical about five years back for education, had started to work for a computer and xerox shop in Kodical since the last some months. After leaving home on January 16 morning for work, he had not come back. After searching for him at various places, his close ones had filed missing complaint in Urva police station.
Local fishermen found on Monday morning that an unidentified body was lying on the seashore behind Lord Mahalingeshwara temple at Uchila. After the police were informed, the Padubidri police took the body to the mortuary at the government primary health centre at Padubidri. They then contacted other police stations in the twin-districts, informing them about the body for identification purposes. Thereafter, Urva police contacted relatives of Rajesh to go to Padubidri to check whether the body found was that of Rajesh.
As the body was thoroughly decomposed, the relatives identified the body with the help of clothes. It is felt that Rajesh would have decided to end his life, having been frustrated with life, perhaps because he was unable to achieve his aspirations.
