Bagalkote, Jan 23 : Karnataka State Women’s Commission has registered a suo moto case of harassment against former minister H Y Meti on Sunday, January 22.
Chairperson of the Commission Nagalakshmi Bai revealed this information to the media.
H Y Meti had resigned as excise minister after a video of his sexual escapades were made public a few weeks ago. Though he claimed innocence in the beginning and refused to resign, later he quit his office.
The Commission took up the Suo Moto case based on media reports of the incident.
Nagalakshmi Bai informed that the Commission has been making efforts to get in touch with the woman who appeared in the video. But her whereabouts are not known. The Commission has written to the superintendent of police of Bagalkote to provide protection to the woman.
The woman too had changed her statements several times when she spoke to the media when the video went viral. But of late nothing has been heard about her. Meti also did not appear much in public after his resignation.
After the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) completes its enquiry into the case, the Commission will obtain its report and take appropriate action, Nagalakshmi said.
