Udupi, Jan 20: Sri Vidyadheeshateertha Swamiji of Palimar Math on Friday, January 20 performed the 'Akki Muhurta' at the Math premises in preparation for his ascension as the head of Sri Krishna Math in the next Paryaya, amidst spiritual and religious rituals.
'Akki Muhurta' is the second of the four rituals in the run-up to the Paryaya celebrations. It is a
traditional practice to gather rice for 'Annadana' during the two years of the next Paryaya Peetha ascension. As many as 108 'Akki Mudis' were collected.
'Baale Muhurta', 'Akki Muhurta', 'Kattige Muhurta' and 'Bhatha Muhurta' are the four rituals that are performed by Sri Palimar Math Swamiji before ascending the Paryaya throne in January 2018.
As part of the ritual 'Akki Mudi' was kept in the golden chariot, marking the ceremony of 'Akki Muhurta'. The 'Akki Mudi' was carried on the devotees' head in grand procession around Sri Krishna temple. 'Mahamangalastike', 'Dhanyalaxmi Pooja' and 'Navagraha Pooja' were
also performed on the occasion.
Heads of Ashta Maths were offered a ritualistic ceremonial welcome at Palimar Math. The swamijis performed 'Malika Mangalarathi' to other swamijis on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Vidyadeeshateertha Swamiji said, “There are three forms of 'Brahma' namely 'Anna Brahma', 'Nada Brahma' and 'Kanchana Brahma'. Udupi is known for 'Anna Brahma', Pandarapura is known for 'Nada Brahma' and Tirupati for 'Kanchana Brahma'. Udupi Sri Krishna temple is popular for its hospitality from 800 years. Thousands of devotees visit the temple and have mid-day meals (anna prasadam).
"Laksha Tulasi Archane should be performed everyday. Let every house grow Tulasi plant and offer it to Lord Krishna," he added.
Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA, Kaup constituency speaking to mediapersons said, "It is my duty and an honour to participate in the paryaya preparation activities which is being held here in Palimar. Swamiji has successfully managed to organise mid-day meals for school students. I extend all my support to the upcoming paryaya activities."
Senior Vishweshateertha Swamiji and junior Vishwaprasannateertha of Pejawar Paryaya Math, Sri Vishwa Vallabhateertha Swamiji of Sode Vadiraja Math, Sri Vidyavallabhateertha of Kaniyur Math, Sri Vidyasagarateertha Swamiji of Krishnapur Math, Sri Laxmivarateertha Swamiji of Shiroor Math, Vishwapriyateertha Swamiji of Admar Math and his successor Sri Eshapriyateertha Swamiji were present.
