Panaji, Feb 9: The hotels, guest houses, lodges and other accommodations will have to face the cancellations of their licences in the state, if they do not keep track of the guests visiting them, the state government said.

The government has decided to tighten noose around the hoteliers and various other forms of accommodations in a bid to curb any militant activity in the state. The government in this tourist resort state has woke up to the grim reality of being a soft target after neighbouring Karnataka government arrested three militants who had attempted to strike Goa.

"Whoever does not follow regulations, will face cancellation of their licences," chief minister Digamber Kamat said on Friday February 9 evening.

Chief minister, who had earlier said that the state is on general alert, stated that abundant precautions are taken to block any possible militant activity in the state. "We are awaiting detailed interrogation report from Karnataka; only after that we will be able to comment more," Kamat said.

The state has sent its police team headed by a superintendent of police Neeraj Thakur to Karnataka to interrogate the arrested militants.

The chief minister giving clean chit to the state police machinery said that there was no lapse on their part.

Replying to yet another question, chief minister said that the state is safe and all the precautions are taken. "In today's circumstances, we are taking all the precautions," he added.
