Udupi, Jan 18: District in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj on Wednesday, January 18 laid the foundation stone for mini Vidhana Soudha at Bannanje. The proposed project was pending for quite sometime.
Speaking to the gathering, minister Madhwaraj said, "I have tried to get many grants and projects from the government for the development of Udupi during my three years' tenure as MLA so far. For implementation of various projects, 70% of the problems come from revenue department and city municipality council. I have tried my best to find solutions to these difficulties.
"While I was the state secretary for revenue, I visited many places like Bhatkal and Bengaluru, where there was no security for valuable documents. Many RTC and land related documents have gone missing there. This should not happen in our city. The poor and deprived should not be made to suffer for their documents.
"Government officials should work in a peaceful atmosphere and carry out their duties sincerely. The building will be constructed at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore. The grant has been sanctioned. Additional Rs 2.5 crore will be released shortly. The work will get completed within eight months," said the minister.
The mini Vidhana Saudha building project consists of basement, ground floor and first floor.
Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, CMC, president, Manjunathayya, commissioner, Anuradha G, ADC, CMC members and zilla panchayat members were present.
