Mangaluru, Jan 18: RTI activist, Vinayak Baliga, the only son of Jayanti Baliga from Dongerkery here was murdered on March 21 near his home with sharp weapons. Jayanti Baliga (81) breathed her last on January 8 this year.
The lady, who naturally desired her last rites to be performed her only son, saw her wish disappearing in thin air as her son predeceased her. Depression over her son's unexpected demise, worries over safety of other family members and other pressures most likely affected her health and she suffered brain hemorrhage a day before her demise and she remained unconscious thereafter till her last breath.
Jayanti's family members, however, took the right decision of donating both her eyes so that two persons would be able to see the world through her eyes which will live on. Accordingly, the cornea of her eyes were transplanted into two patients at Father Muller Hospital.
More and more blind people will be able to see the light of the day and many will be able to regain health, if only more relatives of the deceased make it a point to see that organs of the deceased are donated and not destroyed. They deserved to be cheered and encouraged for this initiative.
