Bengaluru, Jan 18: A revenue officer working at Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), committed suicide at his residence near Jalagereyamma temple in Srinagar here by hanging himself on the Monday evening, January 16.

H C Srinivas (48) is the deceased. Hanumanthanagar police station personnel, who took up the case, said that no death note was found at the spot of suicide.

Srinivas, native of Nagamangala taluk in Mandya district, had put in about 25 years of service in his department.

It is said that Srinivas was transferred thrice during the course of a month. His family members alleged that he took the extreme step because of mental agony arising out of frustration caused by these transfers. A case about the incident was registered at Hanumanthanagar police station.

Srinivas had served as revenue inspector at J P Nagar before he was transferred to Rajarajeshwari Nagar a month ago. From there, he was posted to BBMP ward at Sunkenahalli in Kempegowda Nagar. Within a few days of working there, he was shifted back to Rajarajeshwari Nagar.
