Puttur, Jan 11: Congress Kissan cell of the district has said that it has no objection to supply of drinking water to needy districts by using rain water through Yettinahole project.
At the same time, it stated that it does not approve usage of water during summer months through the said project. It supported thedemand for conducting exhaustive scientific study about the project and also about taking the people into confidence before executing the project.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday January 10, president of district Kiisan cell, Umanath Shetty, said that the ban placed on digging of borewells has been adversely affecting agricultural activities. He therefore demanded for lifting this ban. Shetty exuded confidence that his party will register victory in a big way in APMC election, as he said people have realized the futility of the central government's promise of coming to their rescue, taking cue from the fact that even after 60 days since enforcing demonetisation exercise, it has not done anything in this direction.
Office bearer of Kissan cell, Naveen Rai Chelyadka, and president of Uppinangady-Vittal unit of the cell, Abdul Kareem, were present.
