Bengaluru: Facebook threat to Ugrappa - HC restrains police from arresting accused

Bengaluru, Jan 11: Relating to a complaint filed by MLC, V S Ugrappa, against people who had reportedly made derogatory and aggressive comments against him including posing death threat to him in response to his demand for taking stringent action against Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Math on Facebook, the state high court has instructed personnel of Vidhan Soudha police station here not to arrest the accused, Krishnamurty Mugalody.

The single judge bench of the high court presided over by Justice Anad Byrareddy, which took up the application filed by Krishnamurty Mugalody seeking to quash the first information report lodged by Vidhan Soudha police against him based on Ugrappa's complaint, passed this order on Tuesday January 10.

The bench ordered issuance of notice to the police and V S Ugrappa relating to the case before adjourning the hearing.
