Mangaluru: Padil accident - victim identified

Mangaluru, Jan 11: The person who died in an accident between a tipper and a jeep over railway over bridge at Padil here on Tuesday has been identified as Muhammed Shakeel (35) from Udupi.

Shakeel, who was skilled at repairing of beds and sofas, was coming towards the city from B C Road for some work when his jeep collided with a tipper truck that was bound for Adyar-Kannur. Shakeel, who was seriously injured, had succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The tipper driver fled immediately after the accident. Shakeel is survived by wife and a daughter. The accident had blocked movement of vehicles for sometime before Kankanadi police arrived and cleared the over bridge for traffic.
