Mangaluru, Jan 9: Former Union Minister B Janardhana Poojary strongly condemned the incident of assault on Vivek Shetty and his mother Ujwala Shetty by the supporters of MLA Raju Kage of Belagavi and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
Addressing media persons here on Monday January 9, Poojary said, “The BJP MLA's brother Siddanagowda Kage and eleven other goons assaulted Vivek. It was alleged that a derogatory comments on BJP MLA Raju Kage’s daughter was posted. In the said incident Vivek’s mother was also injured. The supporters of Kage should not have taken law into their hands.”
“Vivek Shetty and his mother have now been admitted to a hospital in Meeraj. While the MLA has claimed that he had no knowledge about comment put up on the social networking site about his daughter. The rising incidents of BJP leaders assaulting common people is uncalled for. What is state government doing? Is the Chief Minister afraid of the BJP MLA? Why Suo Moto complaint has not been filed by the police?” Poojary questioned.
“I demand the home minister to take strict action against the culprits by registering the case. Chief Minister, who does not have any courage to deal with the cases, is directly responsible for these incidents. Currently situation has become such that no one fears law in the state.”
Commenting on demonetisation Poojary said, “After demonetisation the Prime minister's image is on stake. If BJP looses the Uttar Pradesh election then his own party men will blame him for the same. The BJP leaders do not have answer to the people’s questions.”
