Mangaluru, Jan 4: “When common people unite and submit their problems to the politicians, the politicians will certainly solve them,” said Mescom divisional executive engineer Manjappa after formally inaugurating the KHB Citizen’s Welfare Committee in Ekkoor, Mangaluru on Saturday, December 31.
Retired dean of Mangalore University, Dr Krishna Bhat, presided over the programme. Advocate Ravindra Mannippady, public prosecutor of Karnataka Lokayuktha and Anti-corruption Bureau, was felicitated on behalf of the committee on the occasion.
The programme started with Sathyanarayana Pooja in the evening. Children presented a lively cultural programme after the stage programme.
The New Year was welcomed in a unique manner. Prizes were presented to Winners of various competitions held by the committee.
Committee member Vaishakhi welcomed the gathering. Secretary K Karunaker Shetty delivered the keynote address. Ravindra Munnippady compered the programme. Committee member Jayashree Ravishanker proposed the vote of thanks.
Local corporator Pravinchandra Alva, corporator of Jeppinamogaru ward Surendra, Dr Padmini N Rao, entrepreneurs John Suresh, Kiran Rai, partner of Kudla Chit fund were guests of honour at the programme. Committee president Nithyananda Kokkada was present among other dignitaries.
