Swiss player Bacsinszky pulls out from WTA Shenzhen Open

Shenzhen (China), Jan 2 (IANS): Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland on Monday pulled out from 2017 Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Shenzhen Open due to an discomfort in her left abdomen.

The organising committee said Bacsinszky didn't feel well in her left abdomen so she decided to pull out from the tournament, reports Xinhua.

The current world No.15 is the fourth seed this year and was supposed to play against Camila Giorgi of Italy in the first round.

"I'm pretty sad about the withdrawal today. I was really looking forward to play here in Shenzhen because I have really good memory of this tournament," Bacsinszky said.

"But for my own health and it's the beginning of the year, you have to be wise and think long terms and that's why I withdrew today," the Swiss player added.

Romania's Ana Bogdan will replace Bacsinszky to appear in the first round.
