Mangaluru, Dec 29: 'Expert Day', the 31st annual celebration of Expert Pre-University College, Kodialbail was held here on December 26 and 27.
The chief guest, Raghavendra Auradkar, additional director general of police (ADGP) and chief of recruitment and training, shared his inputs on life and education and inspired young minds. He said, “It is impossible to reach the top and maintain the same without consistent effort and hard work. There are no alternative paths and shorts cuts to success. But no matter how famous one becomes, one should be grateful to one’s teachers and always remember their contributions in one’s life."
He said, “Honesty and simplicity have to be inculcated in our lives. If a person thinks that he/she has achieved everything in life, then there can be no further growth and development, one must thirst and hunger for knowledge. One must have faith and practice perseverance. Without self-confidence, it is impossible to achieve anything."
Arunima Sinha climbed the Mount Everest with an amputated leg and achieved her goal. She is not just an inspiration for physically challenged people but also for all of us. If we fail in something, it should be considered as a stepping stone towards success, and a lesson should be learnt out of it."
Guest of honour, retired professor emeritus in Surgery, KS Hegde Medical Academy, Mangaluru, professor C R Ballal , illuminated the minds of students by encouraging them to take up medicine as it is one of the best career options. He highlighted the need for students to involve themselves in extra curricular activities to enhance their knowledge.
Vice - chairperson of Expert Educational and Charitable Foundation Ushaprabha N Nayak addressed the student fraternity and said, “In today’s competitive world, hard work alone will lead us to success in life. We have to cross all types of hurdles gracefully in life with self-confidence and trust. At times we need to overlook the criticisms. We have to put up our efforts, work sincerely without any expectations or recognitions of any type from anyone.”
Chairman Narendra L Nayak said, “The students have to inculcate hard work and sincerity as the two are important aspects of life. It is not possible to achieve everything in short time. I started my classes on 29th December 1986 and after 30 years when I think back the way he reached this day and I feel very proud of himself. But still what I have achieved is less than what I have to achieve for the days to come. The sky is the limit for the achievements and success .”
The annual celebration was a clear depiction of grand celebrations and cultural festivities. On December 26, various competitions were held where students exhibited their talents through active participation.
The formal inauguration of the Expert Day which marks 30 years of excellence in education, was held in the evening at Kootakkala auditorium, at the Bhagavati temple premises.
The Principal, professor Ramachandra Bhat, presented the annual report for the academic year. Students, Simran and Amogh, compered the formal programme. A cultural programme by the students of Expert followed the formal function.
Chief guest Raghavendra Auradkar, guest of honor professor C R Ballal, chairman professor Narendra L Nayak, vice - chairperson Ushaprabha N Nayak, trustees of Expert Educational and Charitable Foundation, Mangaluru Ustad Rafique Khan and Suresh Pai, principal of the college professor Ramachandra Bhat , the academic advisor and HOD of Department of Biology Pradeep Kumar, alumnus of the college Ankush N Nayak, cultural co-ordinator Niha Sheikh, and programme director of Expert Day - Shreevidya, were on the dais.
They were accompanied by the president of the alumni association, Nishantha Bhat, secretary of the alumni association Navin Mallya, and the president of the student council Sanketh Pai.
