Tokyo, Dec 19 (IANS): Tokyo shares opened lower on Monday after the US stock market ended lower last Friday.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 27.61 points, or 0.14 per cent, from Friday to 19,373.54, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange slid 2.52 points, or 0.16 per cent, to 1,548.15.
Decliners were led by securities, iron and steel, and marine transportation issues.
